Are you ready to use mass digital communication to make money and influence people well one thing you could do is create your very own blog or website which would be an awesome thing to do if it was 2003 if you want to have the digital presence you’re probably gonna want to make an app but where to start let’s take a look at the landscape there are three major lessons you’re going to need to be concerned with iOS Android and Windows there are other ecosystems out there like Ubuntu firefox OS those are just for weirdos first let’s take a look at Apple before jumping onto Team iOS you know that Cupertino keeps their ecosystem on lockdown you’ll have to follow their rules all the way through first you’re gonna need to enroll in the iOS developer program.
Where memberships begin at $99 per year to develop the app you’re gonna need to download something called Xcode that’s apples very own IDE or integrated development environment once your app is ready you will have to submit it to apple for approval and it must fit their very stringent guidelines or will be rejected Android, on the other hand, is a far more forgiving regime you can put about any dumb thing up there in Google Play in there be fine with it.
Google really doesn’t care just go nuts if you want to create an Android app you will need to sign up for a Google Play Developer account which comes with a one-time fee of $25 there are a few Android IDE s to choose from but the official one is Android studio which you can download and use on Windows Mac or Linux and then we have Windows this is by far the smallest of the mobile ecosystem but which has a large following in the Middle East for some reason while it is small Windows latest bit has to become a cross-platform ecosystem so it’ll run apps on phones tablets desktops and this potentially opens windows to millions of users to create Windows apps you’ll need to register for the aptly named window developer account which comes with a one-time fee of only $19 and you’ll need to download Microsoft Visual Studio as your IDE and then just have fun with that for more detailed look check to the PC Mag story on how to create an app I’m Evan the chef ski and I have a cold you.

hey everyone today I’m going to show you how to create your first Android app using Android studio so what we’re gonna do first I want you to launch Android studio on your computer and then go to File-> new and then new project when this window comes up I want you to name the application so for this tutorial I’m gonna do hello world as a basic name keep this the same and then keep this the same here I want you to only select phone and tablet and click on next and then click on empty activity and then click on next here I would again keep this the same don’t change any of this just as long as it looks like mine and then click on the finish and then once it loads up it should look like this.

what I’m going to have you do is click on activity_main which is basically a preview window to where you can see the actual app and the text and then what I’m going to do is I’m going to have you go to the AVD manager because what we’re going to do is we’re going to run it on a virtual AVD on your computer so and the AVD is an Android virtual device manager which basically means you can create a virtual device and then we can run the app on that virtual device versus your phone for debugging purposes. what I want you to do is go to create virtual device I would say just select Nexus which is what I have selected click on next click on next keep everything the same click on finished and then once that’s completed what we’re going to do is we’re going to run the app on the virtual device so now what we’re going to do is we’re going to exit out of that go running and then you should see the virtual devices come up the one that I just created is this one click on ok and then you’ll see the virtual device should come up on the screen in about a couple minutes.

There we go so with this basically what we’re doing is we’re running the app on a virtual device just because in case the app has any issues and at least it’s running on virtual device and not our physical phones so once it loads up you should see the exact same screen over here which is hello world which is basically your app with text so if you were to publish this to the Android developer console which is where Google Play would then show your app the app would then just show hello world which is what it’s going to show here in just a second and it’s going.
